WAVELAND — Walter E. Hine, 78, 601 E. Green St., Waveland, died Saturday morning in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. Be had been seriously ill for two days. Mr. Hine farmed and raised livestock in Parke and Montgomery counties. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of Russellville American Legion Post 255. He also was a member of Portland Mills Christian Church and Whitestown Masonic Lodge 525. He attended school at Whitestown. Born Dec. 15, 1892, at Whitestown, he was a son of Edward and Nettie Burkhart Hine. He was married April 4, 1931, to Helen Jack. They were married at Paris, Ill. Survivors include the widow, a daughter, Phyllis Hine of Waveland; three sisters, Mrs. Jewel Funkhouser of Indianapolis, Mrs. Beryl Guinn of Sioux City, Iowa, and Mrs. Edna Steffey of Lebanon; two brothers, Loris Hine of Sioux City and Edward Hine of Dayton, Ohio; a granddaughter, Phyllis Hine of Waveland; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Machledt & Servies Funeral Home here with Rev. Lester Niles officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery with graveside rites by the Russellville American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday. Masonic rites will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.--waw
